The Melissa and Doug Classic Heirloom Victorian Dollhouse is a high quality wooden dollhouse offered at a great value. With highly decorative details embellishing both the interior as well as the exterior, this gorgeous Victorian style dollhouse can easily become a family heirloom. The attention to the smallest detail is what truly sets this Melissa and Doug dollhouse apart from others. Room furnishing sets and accessories are sold separately, allowing parents and children to slowly add to the collection of furniture. The smaller size of the individual rooms in the dollhouse prohibit the use of some dolls for play.
However, parents have recommended that the Polly Pocket series of dolls fit very nicely into the dollhouse. Some reviews mention that when filled with all of the recommended furniture, the rooms become overcrowded, making it difficult for little hands to maneuver dolls and engage in creative play. The house and its furnishings are designed at a 1:12 scale, with the finished size being 26.5 x 28 x 18 when fully assembled. The manufacturer recommends this dollhouse as being suitable for ages 6 and up. It would be easy to imagine this dollhouse being treasured well into a child’s teens and beyond.

Get The Scoop On Melissa And Doug Dollhouses
Customer reviews are a great way to research a product and find out if it truly delivers. Here are a few reviews from owners of the Melissa & Doug Classic Heirloom Victorian Doll House.
This was an expensive investment. After assembled it gathered friends for a long time, just to look at it. It is without doubt a nice looking house. Paper laminate over particle press paper board. They call it press wood, but it’s not really wood. Nevertheless it’s sturdy. The roof and the stairs are real ply wood. The positive side of this is that’s it’s absolutely breathtaking how it’s so real. I stay sometimes to arrange furniture and make everything neat as if it was my home. The negative sides are the following. Sometimes, like in the kitchen, there’s too much furniture and too little space. It all fits however, little tight but fits. The dolls that look semi good with this house are the Polly pocket dolls an the little bratz. All of the accessories also can be used in this house.
ike every Melissa and Doug product I’ve ever seen, this dollhouse is made well and has great detail. I searched high and low for a “classic” house that didn’t look like a vixen resided there or “the Donald” just moved out….this is it. Except for the fact that one floor of the house was broken in half (it was a very susceptible area at a narrow doorway), the house itself was easily assembled and had all the parts needed (what a concept!). My 7 year old was so excited! Suggestion ….. furniture is great, but brown people who live there are not easily located. I told my daughter if I had a house like this to play with when I was her age, I may never have gone to school!
